Mine Planning Engineer

Essential Qualifications & Skills:
You must be a qualified engineer.
Strong familiarity with Vulcan or Surpac use in mine planning is essential.

A Vulcan user should be familiar with the following program areas:
Open cut design
Block, particularly Advanced Reserves Editor
Models

A Surpac user should be familiar with the following program areas:
Surfaces
Design

Experience:
Strong pit design knowledge and skills are important in this role as this is a key part of the job.
Ideally, the person has spent at least 5 years in a short or medium term planning role with actual hands on experience on a site.
As well as having technical experience, it would be a big advantage to also have strong operational experience (preferably in iron ore or gold) so that there is an understanding of good and bad mining practice and how to correct it.
Drill and blast experience is essential for this role – e.g. can design blast patterns.

You Will Be In Charge Of:
Identifying value creation opportunities
Mine design
Mine scheduling
Drill & Blast planning
Effective participation in Operations Review projects
