KRC Mining Consultants is a boutique organisation, undertaking numerous challenging projects in Australia and across the globe. The Senior Mine Planning Engineer will report to the Consulting Manager and provide a critical link between each client’s site and head office on short to medium term mine planning matters.
Location: Sydney, Australia
The Role:
The Mine Planning Engineer is a senior position in the company and will be responsible for producing reliable, environmentally sound and practically achievable short term (12 week) and medium term (24 month) mine planning schedules.
Additionally, the role shall be responsible for:
Coal open cut design and models in Vulcan and Surpac, and/or MineScape
Dragline design – short-term through to long-term
Creating Reserves and producing short and medium term schedules
Mine planning reporting
The successful person will have strong operational and technical experience, preferably in coal or iron ore and will thrive in our tight-knit team.

Essential Qualifications & Skills:
As the successful candidate, it is essential that you possess the following skills and experience:
5+ years Mine Engineering experience with strong short and medium-term planning skills (preferable with coal or iron ore experience)
Advanced mine planning software skills in Surpac / Vulcan / MineScape
Design skills for dragline operations
Strong operational and technical experience, preferably in coal or iron ore
Proven optimisation of efficiency in mine performance
An ability to develop workable solutions from the client’s requirements.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
A capacity for leadership and a desire to move into a leadership position in the future.
Advanced PC skills and computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Degree in Mining Engineering / Civil Engineering
A working knowledge of Xpac would be beneficial.
